Good value for a day out

I was looking for a day trip that wouldn't break the bank and Stourhead delivered. I bought the family ticket online which saved us a bit compared to individual prices at the gate. The kids loved exploring the landscape garden and seeing the Pantheon. Considering how much there was to see and do, it felt like a worthwhile purchase. I heard about the National Trust membership for free entry, so I'm thinking about that for next time to save even more.

Nice day out, easy to find

Went to Stourhead with my friend last month. It was pretty easy to get to, and finding parking wasn't a problem, which was good. We just walked around the lake for a few hours, took some pictures. The Grotto was cool. Grabbed a sandwich from the cafe after. It was a really chill day, no stress at all.

Good visit, easy booking

Booked tickets for the Christmas light trail. Website was clear. Got the email confirmation right away. The trail itself was really nice. No issues at all.

Lovely grounds, minor wait

Visited Stourhead for a day exploring the landscape garden and the Palladian house. The grounds were truly beautiful, especially around the lake. The plant centre also had some lovely items. We arrived a bit after opening and had to wait about 15 minutes to get into the main parking, which was a small inconvenience. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and everything was well-maintained. The courtyard cafe was a nice spot for a quick coffee. Overall a positive experience, but they could probably improve parking flow on busy days.

Consistent experience, reliable

This was my third visit to Stourhead, and it was just as good as the previous times. I always enjoy the lake walk and exploring the various temples. This time I also did one of the woodland trails which was a nice change. The estate is consistently well-kept, and the staff are always helpful. I keep coming back because I know what to expect – a peaceful and beautiful day out.

How long does it typically take to walk around the lake? Trying to plan my day.

K Karen L. 3 weeks ago
The main lake walk usually takes about 2-3 hours at a leisurely pace, especially if you stop to take photos or pop into the grotto. Depends how fast you walk really.

Do I need to buy tickets online beforehand, or can I just show up and pay at the gate?

B Brian Phillips 4 weeks ago
You can usually just buy them at the gate, but for busy times like bank holidays or if they have a special event on, booking online is probably a good idea to avoid queues.

I just showed up last year, it was fine. But for the Christmas lights you definitely need to book early.

Can I bring my dog to Stourhead? Planning a long walk around the lake.

D Danielle Martin 1 month ago
Yep, dogs are allowed in the gardens and parkland, just gotta keep 'em on a lead. Not inside the house though, obviously.

They're pretty good with dogs, I see loads of them there. Just make sure it's well-behaved and on a lead.

Thinking of visiting Stourhead next month, are there any discount codes or anything to make tickets cheaper?

B Barbara Lopez 1 week ago
Not really for general admission. Your best bet for discounts is usually if you're a National Trust member, then entry is free.

yeah they don't do promo codes like normal stores. it's more like, if you're a student or a senior or a big group, you get a rate. or if you have a national trust card, that's free entry.
